Photolithography

In this class I learned the photolithographic process, including separating the layers of my images to print, exposing plates to create the master, and printing using inks and the printing press. This process is used for the creation of consistent reproduction and mass production. Newspapers used to be printed this way; today they are still printed using similar means, but the printing presses are mechanized, not done by hand anymore.

I completed four pieces for this class, all of which were from images I have taken or created. The layering of different inks is a major part of the printing process, and I tried to consider this in the way I selected and created my imagery. I played with transparency and light and shadow in all of my prints. Additionally, through all four pieces, at various scales, I explored the relationships between nature, objects, people, and architecture.
