First Year Studio

Currently I TA for the first year Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Interior Design Studio. It is my third semester doing so, and as their studio instructor I give short lectures, explain the assignments, meet with them individually and in small groups to discuss their projects, and conduct in class pin-ups and discussions. Additionally, I grade their work, and assist with lectures and assignment preparation.

Teaching has become a major interest of mine. It is not something I had ever considered prior to being given a position, but I found that I really enjoy it. It has helped me grow as a leader and a designer. I find that by helping my students work through their ideas, I am better able to think through my own ideas. Elena Rocchi and Kristian Kelley are the head professors for the class, and they have taught me about visual thinking, and the idea of consuming work, not just producing it. Everything we make, every iteration, is done, not for representation, but to gain a greater understanding of our work.
